my problem is… despite loving all things science, i did terrible at school, i was just not interested. i now have a kind of science related job, im a engineer. i operate CNC machines and CAD software all day long. so doing bad at school did not really affect me as i have never been asked for a diploma and everything i know i learned on the job, ”hands on”.
but no matter how many programs i watch and how many books i read on science… i always seem to end up with the same information that any other normal person would understand.
i want to know more, i don’t want to become a Dr. in chemical engineering or anything, i just want a deeper understanding of the universe and everything else in life.
can you recommend any good online learning courses?
any good books or documentaries that are not so publicly available?
what would you do if you wanted to learn more but only had 3 or 4 hours a day to dedicate to it?
i have thousands more questions, such as how does the standard model ”that i have almost memorized” let me understand more. i know what each component does and its theoretical applications, but im sure my understanding is no ware near a real particle physicist.
i have picked up real science books, and when i do it just goes over my head, its like a cave man walking in to Einstein’s study room and trying to make sense of it all.
i guess what im really asking is: ware do i go from here?
thank you.
@boundles
thx.
@ken … nice one man, thx.
@steven b
u sure ?
… i watched that, and as far as i can tell its a big parody thing that is vague and never gets to the point.
either that or i must be really stupid.
